This inbox exists mainly for one thing: making the guides more accurate. A reader who knows a state better than we do, and sends the section that proves it, is worth more to this site than any amount of internal review.
Corrections that arrive with a statutory citation attached are handled within 48 hours.
What is worth sending
- A correction. The page, the sentence you say is wrong, and the code section that contradicts it. This goes to the front of the queue every time.
- An amendment we have missed. If your legislature changed something last session, the session law number is all we need.
- A case that narrows a provision. Appellate decisions are the hardest part of this work to keep on top of, and a citation from someone who practises in that state is genuinely valuable.
- A dead link. State legislature URLs move constantly and break silently.
- A state you want next. Requests move states up the publishing queue.
- An accessibility problem. Tell us the page and what you were using. These are treated as bugs, not suggestions.
What we cannot answer
Anything that starts with the facts of a real situation.
Not out of caution. A webpage cannot know which birthday controls, whether a relationship meets that state’s definition of a position of authority, or what the prosecutor in that county does with cases like this. Answering anyway would be guesswork dressed as advice, and in criminal law that is how people get hurt.
We also do not recommend lawyers. No firm pays anything to appear on this site, which means there is no honest basis for ranking one against another.
Do not send case details through this form. Messages here carry no legal privilege and no confidentiality. If you are facing an accusation, a charge or an investigation, speak to a criminal defence lawyer licensed in your state before you write anything down anywhere. Most state bar associations run a referral service, and the public defender’s office in the relevant county can tell you whether you qualify for appointed counsel.
